Jobs was raised in what’s known as Silicon Valley, one of the leading hubs in the production of computer parts. Now what the theory generally excludes and the video briefly touches on were the advantages he and others like him had over those who might have had similar goals. Upon Jobs’ death his wealth was in the billions- so wealth was amply covered as well. He achieved high levels of prestige and power rising to the top of and fundamentally developing companies such as Apple and Pixar eventually running them both. In the video it gives a brief biography of Steve Jobs, a man who worked diligently and ruthlessly ever since his early childhood. It explains why careers which require advanced college degrees earn you either a high level of one or more of the following attributes: prestige, power, and wealth. ![]() On the micro scale it tells a tale of meritocracy- stating the harder an individual works- the more opportunity for success that individual will have. On the macro scale it explains such things as how crime is an unavoidable aspect of society- providing us with morals, a judicial system, and the employment of our police and military. Structural functionalism, or simply functionalism is a theory explored by such theorists as Comte,Parsons, and Merton stating that all aspects of society serve specific functions and dysfunctions.
